Adult Volunteer Opportunities
CHIPS is looking for adult volunteers for a variety of activities listed below. We have several opportunities which happen at different times of the day to accommodate different work schedules. If you are volunteering to meet a school or community requirement, we will document your work for your sponsor. Volunteerism is a great way to connect with people in your community and build job skills. We are looking for enthusiastic people who are excited about volunteer opportunities.
MLK Day of Service: “Past, Present, and Future”
Monday, January 16th 2012
A day committed to volunteerism followed by a community dinner
Join us in giving back to our community. We are asking for families, friends, and community members to come together and partake in a variety of community service activities in the greater Essex area. We’ll wrap up the day of service with a community dinner in honor of our community and Dr. Martin Luther King’s work.
Become a Mentor
Are you a community member who has an interest in building a relationship with a child from the Essex Town community? Then make a difference in a child’s life–join our school based mentoring program! One hour per week, during the school day throughout the school year.
Teen Center Volunteer
Accompany the direct service staff of CHIPS at our after school drop in teen center. Participate and help lead students in arts and crafts activities and various games.
Hours of operation: 3:00pm-5:30pm. Mondays: 4th and 5th grade students; Tuesdays-Thursdays: 6th-8th grade students
Stomping Ground Chaperone
Help supervise The Stomping Ground event series. These are activities for Essex High School students that happen on Friday evenings, twice a month. Events range from dances to coffee house performances.
Fundraising Volunteers
Help us to invite individuals and businesses to support our general operations or a special project.
Community Business Mentors
Train the Stomping Ground high school staff in various aspects of business.
