Inspiring Youth -

The Doug Holland Memorial and Giraffe Awards will be presented Thursday, June 5, 2008, from 5:30-7:30 pm at Essex CHIPS & Teen Center!   In partnership with Chief Leo Nadeau and the family of the late Doug Holland, CHIPS is pleased to present the Giraffe and Doug Holland Memorial Awards each year.  Giraffe awards are presented to youth and adults who "stick their necks out" to make a difference for youth and community healthy choices.  The Doug Holland Memorial Award is given annually to an individual who demonstrates profound respect for youth and provides exemplary leadership to advance youth interests in the spirit of devoted Teen Center volunteer Doug Holland.
Festive desserts will be served as we celebrate a year of great activities!

All Year Round, Youth Collaborate with Adults   All of CHIPS activities are led by youth in collaboration with adults.   Spring and summer are a great time to learn more about CHIPS as we prepare for the 2008-2009 school year.  Learn more about our youth advisories, board committees, or at the Teen Center or Stomping Ground coffeehouse.  For more information check the Get Involved page!

Tips for Teens  - March 2008
Teens who have a close relationship with a parent or adult are more likely to make healthy choices.
Need another positive role model in your life?  Get involved with a Teen Center activity, or talk with one of our staff, a school counselor or parent about how to identify positive adults and build stronger relationships.  You deserve to have strong adult support from parents and other important role models in your life!

Tips for Parents - March 2008
Guiding teens toward good choices is a big job.  You don't have to face it alone.
Beginning April 9, CHIPS will be presenting the 5 workshop series "Guiding Good Choices" for parents of youth in grades 5 through 9.  Meet other parents, learn communication and problem solving skills.   This nationally renown series builds parent confidence and family strengths that give teens a better chance at resisting the temptation to try alcohol, drugs and tobacco.  For more information, contact Karin at 878-6989 or email karin@essexchips.org.
