Building a relationship with a child, simply one hour at a time, can greatly improve a child’s life and your own! Research has proven that a relationship with a caring adult can help young children successfully navigate growing up to become incredible individuals.
FriendCHIPS is a school-based mentoring program that empowers youth in the Essex Town School District, through youth & adult partnerships, to make healthy life choices that enable them to maximize their personal potential. Adults volunteer to spend one hour per week with their student at school, participating in activities together such as games, arts & crafts, sports, cooking and conversation. Mentoring matches are voluntary, made with the support of young people’s parents and teachers. There is a careful screening process, and all mentors receive ongoing training from Essex CHIPS, Mobius Mentoring and Essex Town School District.
