Interested becoming a mentor? Applications for our FriendCHIPS mentoring program are accepted at all times of year. Questions and completed applications can be directed to Justin Hoy.

 

What Mentors Do:

  • Form a personal connection with their mentee

  • Act as a positive role model for their mentee

  • Engage in fun activities, such as games, cooking, arts and crafts, sports, storytelling, or conversation, with their mentee

  • Listen to and help their mentee with issues they are facing

 

Benefits to Volunteering as a Mentor:

  • Have a lasting and direct, positive impact on youth

  • Have fun

 

Hours and Time:

 

Mentor pairs meet once a week for an hour at a coordinated time that works for both mentor and mentee. Meetings take place during the school day, on school grounds.

 

How to Get Started:

  • Submit a New Mentor application

  • The FriendCHIPS Program Coordinator will contact you for an interview

  • After passing a background check, receive a mentee assignment

  • Attend first meeting with your mentee and the FriendCHIPS Program Coordinator
