Youth Program Coordinator

Reports to: Youth Program Director
Hours: 20 to 25 hours per week
Pay: $19 to $22 per hour, depending on experience

Benefits: Paid vacation/personal time, sick time, and a generous paid holiday schedule

Position Summary

The Youth Program Coordinator assists the Youth Program Director with the day-to-day operations of the Teen & Tween Center, including direct work with youth, program support, and coverage when the Director is unavailable.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with young people, is dependable and organized, and is comfortable taking initiative as part of a small team.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Youth Program Director, the Youth Program Coordinator will:

• Supervise and engage with youth during Teen & Tween Center hours.

• Build positive relationships with youth while maintaining appropriate boundaries.

• Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.

• Help plan and facilitate activities, programs, special events, and other opportunities for youth.

• Assist with program setup, cleanup, snacks, supplies, and other daily program needs.

• Learn Center procedures and provide coverage when the Youth Program Director is unavailable, including opening and closing the Center and overseeing program staff, interns, and volunteers as needed.

• Participate in staff meetings, training, and program planning.

• Assist the Youth Program Director with program records and documentation.

• Support school vacation programming, special programs, community events, and other youth activities as needed.

• Assist with outreach efforts to promote Teen & Tween Center programs and events.

• Create social media posts and promotional materials for Teen & Tween Center programs, events, and activities.

• Perform other related duties that support the Teen & Tween Center and youth programs.

 

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with youth.

• Communicates well with youth, families, coworkers, and community members.

• Is comfortable supervising groups of young people and responding calmly to challenges.

• Is dependable, organized, flexible, and able to take initiative.

• Works well independently and as part of a team.

• Is willing to learn Teen & Tween Center procedures and provide coverage when the Youth Program Director is unavailable.

• Must be at least 18 years old. 

• Is CPR/First Aid certified or willing to become certified within 30 days of hire.

Experience in youth development, recreation, education, after-school programming, social services, or a related field is helpful, but we welcome a range of relevant experience.

A successful background check is required for employment. 

​

Schedule

This is a 20 to 25 hour per week position. The schedule will include regular Teen & Tween Center after-school program hours Monday through Thursday and approximately two Fridays per month, as well as time for planning, preparation, meetings, and other program responsibilities.

Some evening, school vacation, or special event hours may be required.
