Essex CHIPS (Community Health Initiatives and Programs for Students) empowers youth through positive relationships, skill-building, and community engagement. As we prepare to reopen the Teen and Tween Center in January 2026, we are seeking to fill a Teen Center Assistant position.

Job description:

 

We are looking for a Teen Center Assistant for our youth-centered nonprofit in Essex Junction.

As Essex CHIPS (Community Health Initiatives and Programs for Students) prepares to reopen at 2 Lincoln Street in Essex Junction in January, we are searching for an energetic Teen Center Assistant for our afterschool program.

Summary of Position: This is a part-time non-exempt position, which requires appropriate professional youth work skills, creativity, punctuality, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate, engage and collaborate with elementary and middle school students, caretakers and fellow staff members. Assistance will support youth active in the space through supervising youth, support program prep (such as setting up provided snacks, help set up activities, as well as model inclusivity and activity/program participation). Other duties may be assigned in response to program needs, an example being to support our planned Food Pantry Project. 

 

The Teen Center Assistant will maintain a safe and positive environment for youth participating in Teen and Tween Center programming, assist in daily program activities, supervise youth, prepare snacks and complete other duties as assigned. Our program serves 4th -9th graders.

 

Requirements:​

· Previous experience working with children is required.

· Background check required.

· A CPR/First Aid certification, or a willingness to become certified, is required.

 

Schedule: Afternoons, up to 16 hours weekly between Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday shifts, with core hours being 1:00 pm- 6:30 pm (our schedule varies based on the day of the week and age group attended each day). We will work with your schedule if you are not available every day. Potential to add Mondays in the future. 

 

Benefits: Compensation begins at $16/hour, paid bi-weekly by direct deposit.

 

Location: Five Corners, Essex Junction (on the bus line)
